What's not to like about high horsepower, torque vectoring, and a return to physical knobs and buttons for interior controls?

Ford is finally putting out the details for the power and fuel economy for the all-new 2015 Edge. The Sport trim's 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 gets 315 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque and EPA-estimated fuel economy of 18 miles per gallon city, 27 mpg highway and 21 mpg combined.

The 2016 Lincoln MKX crossver gets a major upgrade, with new EcoBoost power, more safety features and a fresh look.

After testing for its 10 Best Engines, Ward's is wondering where the eco – as in economical or eco friendly – is in Ford's strong-selling line of EcoBoost engines.

A page allegedly taken from a Ford training manual shows just how much power that the 2015 Ford Mustang's 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine loses when burning lower octane fuel. It appears to make around 275 horsepower and 300 pound-feet of torque – about 11 percent fewer ponies than when using higher-grade gasoline.

Ford has trademarked the name "EcoBeast," indicating that the Blue Oval may have a serious performance application planned for its line of turbocharged engines.

Ford Racing is offering the ProCal handset for $595, allowing you to reflash the ECU on your EcoBoost-equipped ride to extract more of its inherent capabilities without any additional upgrades. It gives you control of variables such as throttle response, idle speed and turbo wastegate control, among others.

Aside from the way it looks and perhaps its independent rear suspension, the biggest bit of news on the 2015 Mustang may be the inclusion of its 2.3-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder engine. Typically, when I approach a new vehicle launch, it's with a degree of optimism. Nowadays, we just expect that every new vehicle will pose a legitimate challenge to segment leaders. Mid-cycle refreshes, meanwhile, have taken on a greater degree of importance, as customers' preferences for the freshest vehicles remains strong and automakers rush to keep the latest tech in their offerings.
