When evaluating electrified vehicles like the 2018 Honda Clarity Plug-In Hybrid, it's easy to become fixated on electric range. Oh, it's certainly one of the most important factors, but there are so many other things one must weigh when choosing one of these new-fangled eco-friendly cars. Things like comfort, quality, feature content, driving experience ... you know, the stuff we use to evaluate every other car out there.

From the Beijing Motor Show comes word of pricing for the forthcoming Polestar 1 plug-in hybrid, but there's more confusion on the question of whether the high-end coupe can truly be purchased, as opposed to being obtained solely through a subscription model.

In addition to the all-electric Enspire crossover concept revealed this week ahead of the Beijing auto show, Buick is adding a new production variant to its Velite series of electrified vehicles for China. It's called the Velite 6, a plug-in hybrid that will launch this year in Buick's largest market, with a full-electric version, shown in the lead photo above at right, coming later.

Mercedes-Benz is working on a full-size battery-electric sedan called the EQ S as part of plans to unveil 10 new electric vehicles by 2022. Bloomberg reports the sedan will be about the size of its flagship S-Class and compete with the Tesla Model S for buyers of luxury electric vehicles.

Bentley has started construction on what it says will be the U.K.'s largest solar-powered car port at its factory headquarters in Crewe, England. When completed, the array will have a capacity of 2.7 megawatts, enough to cover 24 percent of the company's energy requirements on the site.

Porsche has released a new video highlighting its work testing a new generation of plug-in hybrid Cayenne crossovers that it says is due on the market soon. While details about the new PHEV are scarce, Porsche says the Cayenne E-Hybrid will have more range than the preceding model and be comparable to the Panamera, its other line of plug-in hybrids.
